Green plaudit for Grange Park

December 1, 2025

Grange Park has won the GOLD Environment Award in the international campaign to find the greenest individuals, companies, councils and communities. Its “Energy and Carbon Reduction Project competed against more than 1,000 other nominations in the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice.

The award was presented at a glittering ceremony  at the House of Lords, Westminster Palace, London on November 17th, 2025.

The judges commented. “Wesleyan’s refurbishment removed gas, capped supply and installed efficient electric heating/cooling—66% more efficient than the 40-year old system. 210 PV panels generated 65,255 kWh (2024/25), saving ~£9k; EV chargers support green travel. EPCs jumped from F to A in refurbished areas, with LEDs and smart lighting controls reducing consumption to the second.”

The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established as the country’s major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils and communities.

The awards are organised by The Green Organisation – an international, independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world. The Green Apple Awards are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management, REHIS and other independent bodies.
